How pricing and estimates work

Every landscape job is quoted on its own. The price depends on the size of the beds, which plants you choose, how much soil prep the ground needs, and whether old shrubs, sod or rock have to come out first.

You'll have the price, and know what is going in the ground, before anything is ordered.

Planting in Northwest Ohio

Spring and early fall are the best times to plant here. In spring, most planting waits until the last frost has passed, which around Toledo is usually mid-May. Fall planting from September into October gives roots time to settle in before the ground freezes. If you want new beds in by Memorial Day, start the conversation in March or April.

Landscape Design & Installation questions

Do you help pick out the plants?

Yes. Brad will suggest plants that fit the sun, shade and soil in your yard and that hold up to Northwest Ohio winters. You make the final call.

Should I use mulch or decorative stone?

Mulch looks natural, helps hold moisture and breaks down over time, so it needs topping off. Stone costs more up front but stays put and needs less upkeep. Many yards use mulch in the planting beds and stone along drip lines or narrow strips.

When is the best time to plant around Toledo?

Mid-May through early June, after the last frost, and again from September into October. Planting in the heat of July and August is possible but needs a lot more watering.

Can you redo old, overgrown beds?

Yes. Overgrown shrubs can be cut back or pulled, beds reshaped and re-edged, and new plants and mulch put in. It is quoted the same way as a new bed.

Can you add lighting when you put in new beds?

Yes. Planning landscape lighting at the same time as new beds is the easiest way to do it, because the low-voltage cable can be run before the mulch or stone goes down.
