Low-voltage landscape lighting in Perrysburg and Toledo

Greener Results installs low-voltage landscape lighting for homes in Perrysburg, Toledo, Maumee and the surrounding towns: path lights, uplights on trees and the front of the house, and lights along beds and walks. The system runs on 12 volts from a transformer that plugs into an outdoor outlet, so it is a safer, simpler setup for a yard than line-voltage wiring. Estimates are free.

What's included

  • Path & walkway lightsLow, even light along the front walk and steps so guests can see where they are going.
  • UplightingLights aimed up into trees or across the front of the house to give it shape after dark.
  • Bed & accent lightsSmaller fixtures tucked into planting beds to pick out shrubs, grasses or a focal point.
  • Transformer & controlsThe transformer mounted near an outdoor outlet, set on a timer or light sensor so it runs itself.
  • Buried cableLow-voltage cable run below the surface through beds and lawn edges and connected at each fixture.

How pricing and estimates work

Lighting is quoted by the job. The number of fixtures, how far the cable has to run, and the size of transformer the system needs are the biggest factors.

Brad can price a small starter setup for the front walk and add to it later, or lay out the whole yard at once.

Built to survive an Ohio winter

Freeze and thaw heaves the ground here every winter, and plows and shovels hit anything near a driveway. Fixtures go where they will not get clipped, and cable is buried and routed with that in mind. It is worth thinking about lighting before you put in new beds, so the cable can go in at the same time.

Outdoor Lighting questions

What is low-voltage landscape lighting?

It is outdoor lighting that runs on 12 volts instead of the 120 volts in your house. A transformer plugs into an outdoor outlet and steps the power down, then low-voltage cable runs to each fixture.

Will landscape lighting raise my electric bill much?

Not much. Modern LED landscape fixtures draw only a few watts each, so even a full yard of lights uses far less power than the same number of old halogen bulbs.

Do I need an outdoor outlet?

Yes. The transformer plugs into an outdoor GFCI outlet. If there is not one near where the transformer should go, an electrician may need to add one before the install.

Do the lights turn on by themselves?

Yes. The transformer is set up with a timer or a light sensor so the lights come on at dusk and shut off on their own.

Can lighting be added to the beds I already have?

Yes. Fixtures and cable can be worked into existing beds. If you are planning new beds, it is easier to run the cable at the same time.
